Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) & Emergency Services Council
LEPC's primary responsibility is to develop an emergency response plan that addresses the hazardous materials located on the island and are used in everyday activities by business and industry. But it has been expanded to include an "all-hazard" approach of natural and man-made hazards. Community leaders meet on a quarterly basis to discuss, exercise, and drill on potential hazards that could happen around Kodiak in preparation of an actual event.

Meetings are generally held on the first Thursday in March, June, September, and December at 1:30 p.m. in the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly Chambers.
